BACHELOR OF ARTS IN ECONOMICS

Pre-requisites:
MATH 1130 or MATH1148 (or higher) – 3 to 4 credits
STAT 1450 or ECON 3400 (or higher level of Statistics) – 3 to 4 credits

Major CORE Requirements:
ECON 2002.01/.02/.03 (Principles of Macroeconomics) – 3 credits
ECON 4001.01/.02/.03 (Intermediate Microeconomic Theory) – 3 credits
ECON 4002.01/.02/.03 (Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory) – 3 credits
ECON 4400 (Elementary Econometrics) – 3 credits

Major Electives:
Any 3000-level or higher (except 3400) – 9 credits
Any 5000-level or higher – 6 credits

Major Writing or Thought Course:
*The Economics Department sets this requirement because many of the jobs that economics majors take require writing skills on economic subjects. Since many of the Department’s courses are oriented toward problem-solving and involve little writing, it is helpful for majors to get this additional experience in writing on economic topics.

MINOR IN ECONOMICS

CORE Requirements: 
ECON 2001.01/.02/.03 – 3 credits
ECON 2002.01/.02/.03 – 3 credits
ECON 4400 (Elementary Economics) or 4001.01/.02/.03 (Intermediate Microeconomic Theory) or 4002.01/.02/.03 (Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory) – 3 credits

Elective Requirements: 
Any two 3000-level or higher economics courses – 6 credits

Additional Details:
No more than 3 hours of Econ 4998, 4999 or 5193 may be applied to the minor.
Econ 4797 may be used only with permission of the Director of Undergraduate Studies.
Transfer credit hours are allowed. No more than one half of the credit hours required on the minor.
No course that counts as within your major can be used for the minor.
Consult with the Academic Advisor from your major concerning other possible restrictions. Major college office may require a minor program form.
