Welcome, new Associate Professor, Lorenzo Magnolfi!
The Department of Economics welcomes new Associate Professor, Lorenzo Magnolfi!
Lorenzo Magnolfi is an industrial organization (IO) economist developing empirical tools to analyze competition among oligopolistic firms. His research focuses on how firms’ strategic decisions shape market outcomes in response to policy (e.g., taxation or trade policy), regulation (e.g., antitrust), and market design (e.g., in online platforms). His work spans four areas: (i) estimation of empirical games, (ii) testing firm conduct, (iii) applied research on competition in non-standard markets. Finally, as a cross-cutting theme, he uses (iv) AI/ML to study competition in markets. Lorenzo was previously an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is now Associate Professor of Economics at The Ohio State University! He received his M.Sc. in Economics, Universitat Pompeu Fabra - Barcelona GSE, and his Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University.
