Gledhill Prize in Applied Economics:
Made possible by a donation from OSU Econ alumnus Robert "Scott" Gledhill. The award will be made annually for the best paper in applied economics by an OSU undergraduate economics major. It carries a $5,000 cash award and recognition by the department and the university.
James L. Kennedy Fund in Economics:
The Department of Economics is using the inaugural gift from alumnus Jim Kennedy to support advanced PhD students preparing to enter the job market. This will relieve one or two of the most promising PhD students from teaching obligations to help them complete their dissertations in a timely manner and prepare for a very competitive job market. This support will allow the students to work full time on their research at the crucial point in their efforts to transition from student to professional scholar. Good job market placements of PhD students can significantly boost the Department’s academic reputation, so this gift can have a lasting impact on the OSU Department of Economics.
