The department's graduate student teaching awards include the Departmental Citation for Excellence in Teaching (DCET) and the Graduate Associate Teaching Award in Economics (GATA). Funds to underwrite the awards come from the L. Edwin Smart fund.

G.S. Maddala Prize
Xingbai Xu has been awarded the G.S. Maddala prize for his research in the area of nonlinear and semiparametric spatial econometrics. His research focuses on the specification and estimation of important nonlinear spatial autoregressive models.
