Entrepreneur and Economics Alum Keith B. Key was honored with a Doctor of Public Service at The Ohio State University’s spring 2023 ceremony. As CEO of Keith B. Key Enterprises and Omni Management Group, Key has been involved with over $1 billion of real estate development, inclusive of residential, commercial and religious-oriented projects. Key received his degree in economics from Ohio State and is a former Buckeye football player. He contributed $1 million to support the Office of Student Life’s Keith B. Key Center for Student Leadership and Service.
A research paper from Professor Trevon Logan, Hazel C. Youngberg Trustees Distinguished Professor, provide the best evidence to date that preferences of white consumers helped drive private businesses to discriminate against Black customers before the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The study, published recently in the Quarterly Journal of Economics.

The initiative honors and recognizes tenure-track faculty who have recently been appointed to the rank of associate professor with tenure and have demonstrated significant accomplishments in their discipline.
A research paper from Professor Bruce Weinberg suggest that scientists hit their creative peak early in their careers. Findings showed that, on one important measure, the impact of biomedical scientists’ published work drops by between one-half to two-thirds over the course of their careers. This study was published in the Journal of Human Resources.
Professor Huanxing Yang has been appointed chair of the Department of Economics for a four-year term beginning July 1, 2023. Yang is an expert in the areas of contract theory, industrial organization, and game theory.
