Ryan is currently a tutor in the Economics Learning Center, the President of Omicron Delta Epsilon Economics Honors Society at Ohio State and holds two research assistant positions in the Political Science Department.
His interest in Economics began in high school and has further developed at Ohio State. He is most interested in the ways in which economics affects politics and policy making and vice versa. Last year he studied the impact of employment shocks on populist voting in Europe in Dr. Bruce Weinberg's research seminar. His paper used data from the European Commission to analyze the relationship between shocks and the share of seats held by populist representatives in national parliaments in the European Union. While his results in this analysis were inconclusive, the experience cemented his interest in research.
In the future, Ryan seeks to pursue a PhD and continue his research in political economy.
