Bruce Weinberg, associate professor, economics, is a lead author of a new study revealing the economic benefit of providing research funding for science PhD students. The study, published in the Dec. 11 issue of Science, found that recipients of doctorates in all science fields disproportionately gained placements in large and high-wage private businesses, as well as additional business characteristics associated with high productivity.
